DTF Some Martian Craters were named after Philippine Towns!

The Perseverance Rover is bound to Jezero Crater next year. Ikaw, saan naman ang punta mo? Philippines or Mars? Be sure with your destination since some Martian craters have the same name as the Philippine towns!

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN) names the small craters on Mars after the small towns around the world with populations of 100,000 or less, though the naming didn’t necessarily mean a commemoration. In the Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature maintained by the IAU and the USGS, at least five Martian craters were named after the small towns in the Philippines: Bacolor (Pampanga), Camiling (Tarlac), Daet (Camarines Norte), Naic (Cavite), and Taytay (Palawan).
